YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM

East Coast is a great place to learn, but it is also fun for everyone. When I teach, I can see the students having fun while they learn; this makes me feel good, and its fun for me to watch them get better.

East Coast Youth Martial Arts - ages 7-12

Starting with their first class, children of all skill levels will learn respect and self-discipline. They will learn how to move with a confidence that carries over into other aspects of their lives. And they'll have so much fun doing it, they won't even realize that they are learning these things!

junior studentThrough their commitment to martial arts training, they will develop speed, strength, and coordination. They will learn to cooperate with each other and take responsibility for themselves and their team.

As they progress through the program, East Coast students will feel themselves develop real skills that they can use throughout their lives. As their skill level grows, so will their love of martial arts and training.

The child will develop as a martial artist by practicing proper technique, fitness training and sparring.

Our Youth Martial Arts Program offers all the challenges and opportunities that any young martial artist could hope for.

Little Dragons - ages 4-6

Designed specifically for Pre-K and Kindergarten age children, our Little Dragons program at East Coast School of Self Defense is more than the basic fundamentals of martial arts. We put an emphasis on respect, honesty, confidence, self-control, and fun! The Little Dragons become well rounded by experiencing social, emotional, physical and mental growth. We encourage balance and flexibility through use of their fine and gross motor skills. We take every advantage to teach your child about safety in real life. The curriculum will prepare the child for our other programs by teaching the same techniques that all our students learn.

A Note on Competitiveness and Rank...

For these young age groups, more focus is placed on doing their personal best and not on being “better” than others. Our school culture does not use rank as a motivator. When a student is ready for a new belt and has earned the right to learn more and move forward, that will happen. We want to bring our young students together by having lots of group fun activities. Anyone who attends one of our events can see that their children are enjoying themselves and enjoying being part of our East Coast family.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR OUR YOUTH STUDENTS

Our most dedicated students may be asked to join the Special Winning Attitude Team (SWAT) -- or our demonstration team. SWAT members help newer students learn and train alongside them as leaders. Our Demo Team learn exciting, high-energy demonstration routines and perform them at local schools and festivals. These kids also take on leadership roles in the school, freqently helping the Black Belt instructor's teach beginner students. Our Leadership Team runs the SWAT and Demo teams and help to teach classes.
